Open Question: How do i file insurance on a store? Read below please?

Im an employee at a major electronics store. My car got stolen in the parking of the store I work in. Ive noticed it gone when my shift ended. I asked LP in my store if i can view the tape and they said to file a police report first and then they will show it.
