Open Question: Should my solicitor have disclosed the HIP?

We recently purchase a house. After completion we found that mains gas was not connected to the house. We checked all the advise and documents that we had been provided with by our solicitor and this was not included. We were not provided with a copy of the HIP although this was provided to our solicitor. When we spoke to the conveyancer to acted for us she read to me a section of the HIP
