Women with nothing to wear can now get a new outfit delivered to their wardrobe – in as little as 90 minutes.
Glasgow has become one of the first places outside London where high street favourites Warehouse, Oasis and Coast are offering the special speedy shopping service.
After buying online, the new outfit is dispatched directly from one of the firms’ 16 city stores, meaning fashionistas can get something new for a night out without having to leave home.
The service costs £9.99 and is available to selected postcodes, but only covers certain items.
After buying, shoppers are given an estimated time for their delivery.
Areas covered include the West end, Maryhill, Dennistoun and other parts of the East End, Shawlands and the South Side including Govan and Ibrox, East Kilbride, Bishopbriggs, Baillieston, Uddingston, Rutherglen, Clydebank, Airdrie, Coatbridge, Motherwell and Paisley.
Items can only be dispatched during store opening hours – including during weekends.
The Glasgow roll-out of the fast fashion service follows a three-month pilot in London where 91% of orders were delivered in under 90 minutes.
The fastest fulfilment was just 18 minutes, with an order delivered to an address in central London.
At Warehouse, a special offer from Monday 22 August until Sunday 28 August will cut the cost of the special delivery service to just 90p.
Hash Ladha, group multi-channel director at Aurora Fashions, parent company of the three stores, said: “Our customers want the freedom and flexibility to shop and buy in whatever way best suits their lifestyle.
“They can now order a product across any of our brands in the afternoon and be wearing it that same evening, which is a fashion first.
“We have upgraded all our delivery options and we now provide the widest range and fastest options available to our customers with both same day and 90 minute delivery.”
Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester are the only other cities to get the new service.
Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Cardiff and Belfast will also get it next month.
Oasis, Warehouse and Coast are the first fashion firms to offer such a quick delivery service to customers.
90-minute delivery
By Sarah Swain
Like most women I’ve got a wardrobe full of clothes, but nothing to wear.
So I was excited about the new 90-minute delivery service offered by Oasis, Warehouse and Coast.
Not everything online is available though, and you need to shop when the store is open.
But a leopard print vest from Oasis, caught my eye.
Thankfully it was available through the new service, and I ordered it from the office at 4.50pm
The website said it would arrive at my flat by 7.02pm, which is pretty fast.
I rushed home from work and waited by the door.
The courier turned up at 6.29pm. He said my house number hadn’t gone though on the order, so how he managed to find me I’ll never know.
And at just 99 minutes from store to door I was pretty impressed.
