The Ball Drops for 2009

It was cold in Manhattan but even colder on the stage where Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas try to keep their distance as we ring in the new year.

I felt uncomfortable for her. Poor Taylor. Love her. Her site is awesome. Check it out.

Airbrush Much?

I love, love, love Kelly Clarkson. I also love, love, love Carrie Underwood. But, why did the airbrush mavens turn Kelly into a Carrie on the cover of her new album?

The Love of A Father And Son

This photo of John Travolta and his son Jett brought me to tears today.

NASSAU (Reuters) – Actor John Travolta broke a two-day silence over the death of his 16-year-old son Jett on Sunday, saying he and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, were "heartbroken" by their sudden loss.

Jett, who had a history of seizures, was found unconscious in a bathroom at his family's home at the Old Bahama Bay resort on Grand Bahama Island on Friday morning.

He was pronounced dead after being taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport and an autopsy to determine the cause of death is due to be performed in the Bahamas on Monday.

"Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered," Travolta said in a statement posted on his website www.travolta.com.

"We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time that we had with him for the rest of our lives."

The statement did not refer to Jett's medical history or possible cause of death. But Travolta's lawyers, Michael Ossi and Michael McDermott, were quoted on Sunday as saying Jett apparently suffered from grand mal, a type of epilepsy marked by convulsions and loss of consciousness.

He was on an anti-seizure medication called Depakote for several years, Ossi and McDermott told the celebrity website TMZ.

They said the drug was suspended after it lost its effectiveness amid concern about side effects, however, and Jett had been suffering about one extremely serious seizure a week.

Travolta and his wife have said previously that Jett became very sick when he was a toddler and was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.

Ossi and McDermott did not immediately return calls from Reuters on Sunday seeking comment. Travolta's publicists have declined to comment on autopsy or funeral plans for the actor's teenage son.

Jett Travolta Dead at 16 Years Old

This is horrific news. Jett Travolta, the 16 year old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston has been pronouced dead in the Bahamas.

I am so sad to hear this news. I can only imagine what his family is going through right now.

Jett was found in the bathtub after an apparent fall. There are rumors that he was prone to seizures and that this was possibly an accident caused by his seizure.

God Bless the Travolta family as they head in 2009 with the worst nightmare possible for a parent.

Who Should Play Jacob?

There is talk of re-casting Taylor Lautner who was Jacob in Twilight.

The studio doesn't want to rehire baby-faced Taylor Lautner as Jacob, though Lautner's agent has apparently reached out to the imaging company behind The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in an attempt to demonstrate to Summit how a digitally bulked-up Lautner could work. (Summit says it won't make a decision until a new filmmaker is on board.) There’s also the matter of finding a cast of Native American actors to play Jacob's werewolf clan - a difficult challenge [director Catherine] Hardwicke was also faced with before settling on Lautner, who isn’t completely Native American.

Two sources tell EW the studio doesn’t want to rehire baby-faced Taylor Lautner (pictured) as Jacob, though Lautner’s agent has apparently reached out to the imaging company behind The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in an attempt to demonstrate to Summit how a digitally bulked-up Lautner could work. There’s also the matter of finding a cast of Native American actors to play Jacob’s werewolf clan — a difficult challenge Hardwicke was also faced with before settling on Lautner, who isn’t completely Native American. And with a slightly increased budget of $50 million — much of which is assumed will go to leads asking for heftier paydays, location shoots in Italy, and ramped-up F/X — Summit will have to scrimp somewhere.

Taylor Lautner or
Michael Copon

Personally I hate the idea of a recast. Even though Edward is missing much of New Moon I think if given the opportunity and with digital tweaking Taylor will be awesome.

New Moon Starts Filming in March 2009

According to an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Kristen Stewart says that New Moon will begin filming in March .

"A lot of the book takes place in Italy, and I think we're going to get to go to Italy, which is so cool," Stewart says. "For a while there, they were like, Oh, we don't know if we have the money, but now I think we may have the money!"
